Hi we currently have a number of modules on one report page.  Each module only lists reports in one folder on the SSRS server.  When a user logs in whether they can see a module depends on which user group they are allocated it.  This has worked fine so far.   As each module only lists the reports in the specifed folder, which is exactly what we expect.

However there is are circumstances where there is a challenge.

If a user logs in who is allocated to two user groups, then they can see the two modules (Modules A and B) on the page the user has permissions to see.  The modules show the reports they supposed to display according to their individual settings page, all good so far :-)

If the user selects to run a report from module A, it runs and displays on the screen.  However the same report is also displayed module B.  We would expect the report only to be shown in Module A, where the report is listed. However the same report is shown in both Module A and B at the same time.

Hope this makes sense? I can send screenshots if required.  The question is how do we display the report only in one module at a time, or is possible?

Thanks
Robert

Robert, I understand what you are saying, will test it out. Wondering what version of the module you are using and what version of DNN.

Yeah, sorry we did not post our reply, the issue is that querystring parms are used when in user selection mode so that the module will respond to whatever is passed in the querystring, so if there are two modules on the page, they both will react to this. Currently there is no way to get around this other than to not allow the user to change the report and set the multiple instances to display as you want, e.g. choose the reports to display. If this is a huge deal, we could probably do some sort of customization to get it to work like you need.

Ok thanks for letting us know, we'll pass that on to bosses.  Would it be possible to give us an estimate for the customation work?  They may or may not want to go ahead with it, however we did deliver this project under budget so there 'might' be some money!

Please email service@modulemasters.com and explain how you have the page / modules configured and how you'd envision it working and we can figure out what changes would be needed.
