Any tips on how to remove the Help icon, I'm also assuming I can apply custom styles / classes by editing the .ascx file?

I assume you mean the help icon left of each field? You can remove them by editing the ascx and converting them to standard labels rather than DNN labels, that is what adds the help option. You can completely customize the look and feel by modifying the ascx as you see fit actually, just preserve the key elements.
