Hello,

Is it possible to open the report directly in PDF as if I clicked on the export button after selecting PDF as selected format?

Interesting idea, will explore how this may be possible within the module. SQL RS supports this by using a "render" option when viewing reports directly against the reports server URL, so we may be able to work in an option into the module to allow this, will let you know.

Hello,

That is indeed what I need. For now I use a direct link to RS using the Render option for some reports that need the direct export.

so how would you envision this would work. i assume this would only work where the module is already setup to display a selected report and there would be a setting that would say auto render to that if checked would allow user to select one of the outputs such as PDF, CSV, Excel, etc. Then whenever someone browses to a page where that module is and this setting is checked, it spawns a link to the report server with the associated render set? If it was set to PDF, and there were no parameters in the report that required user input, in theory it would display the PDF doc or ask them to save it.

Eh,

Let's think.

Assume there is a report that does not require user input. Then in the settings part the administrator can choose to auto render to for example pdf. If a user is send to this DNN RSReport module it automatically gives the dialog Open or Save the document.

That would basically fullfill my need. I can also think of the following. In the settings part there is the option auto render and an export format is not chosen (so not a required setting). If a user then opens this module it sees a dialog where he/she can choose the appropriate export format (pdf, csv, html, etc.). After that the dialog open, save is shown.

Is that what you mean?

We are looking for a feature like this too.  I've tried putting Format=PDF into the url string when we go to the module and it doesn't appear to work.

Would be very handy when we don't need any interaction with the user.

We'll look at this as a possibility with the upgrade to version 5 which will leverage the latest control. We did originally explore this and it is best accomplished by calling the report server url directly rather than leveraging a viewer control, however there may be ways to do it with the control we are exploring but have not been able to get it to work correctly yet.
