We would like allow our users the choice of receiving sms messages or not. Could the module be configured to draw from a core profile field to get the sms information? Also, is teleflip really the best way to go? What about sending them as emails? If the module could draw from the mobile phone field for the number, and then the user could choose their carrier you could build the full sms address.

Jack, am interested to understand how users would choose to receive SMS messages, you mean like when newsletters are sent out in DNN? Or would you envision the module have the option of selecting users from a drop down list and send SMS messages to them if they have permitted SMS messaging in the profile somehow? We chose to use teleflip only when 10 digit numbers are used...this is a free and simple solution is the only reason we chose it. We also support currently in the module the ability to use the fully qualified SMS email address. I suppose we could load all known SMS network SMS email extensions in the module, but thought it was overkill..however, you are right, it could be done in the profile or in the module itself. Surprisingly we have not had a request to do this yet.

Yes I am also interested in being able to send messages to the phone numbers derived from the profile of site members, I wish to give trading signals and need a way to alert my site members when to meet me in the room, so I would make up a new profile property along the lines of "SMS trading alert phone number" and would want to send to a prepopulated list of all members who have this field populated.
